Since the beginning of the World of Warcraft PC game, the community has continued to grow year after year. It is almost foolish to think as the community grew that information and knowledge would not grow as well. Over time people started to realize the best ways to gold farm, level, raid, and PVP. Over time all phases of the game have become trivial to some of the best.

When the first few Horde and Alliance leveling guides started to sprout up they were met with great appreciation. Back in the original World of Warcraft the leveling prcoess from one to sixty was a much different experience then it is today with the 3.3 patch. The original WoW had a usual 1 to 60 leveling time of about 8-9 days /played depending on the skill of the player. Of course with the introduction of leveling guides, and one in particular this normal time was shattered. A player known for his speed leveling prowess was able to hit 60 in about 4 days and 20 hours /played. At the time this was remarkable and Joana was able to make a big name for himself. It was not soon after that he was selling his actuall step by step guide to copy this feat.

As time went on more and more leveling guides started to sprout up around the internet. At the time of the original WoW, there were 2 guides that most people used. Brian Kopp's Alliance Leveling Guide (at the moment this guide looks deserted) and Joana's Horde Leveling Guide. Both of these guides used a pdf style format where the user would read step by step which quests to accept, where to kill certain monsters, and also when to turn in quests. Fast forward to now and the leveling guide landscape has changed drasticaly. Now all of the leveling guides worth their salt have an ingame version of their guide that users just load up like any other addon. Tbe user is then directed ingame in the same ways as the original guides used to do.
